“Typically of dance videos the video is themed around partying and clubbing scenes where dance music is most often played. The clothing used is stereotypical with short skirts and heels which are typical clothes worn for nights out as well as the behaviour of the people in the video for example lots of dancing, jumping and in particular drinking. As well as this we see Fergie putting on her make up which is another stereotype of going out clubbing as woman usually make themselves look good and wear a lot of make up. Similarly to pop there is a constant fun atmosphere in dance music videos as they are meant to be played when you’re having a good time and aren’t serious. This is also represented by the UV paint. The drunk antics throughout the video are a perfect example of the relaxed, fun atmosphere and relate to people who like this kind of music and may well behave in similar ways.”

This research will impact me on my final product as it will allow me to understand the codes and conventions of a dance music video. Since i’m still looking for what music genre to do, I thought it would be a good idea to look at other music video genres to help me make a decision of what music genre to do. Dance is another one of my favourite genres to do as it’s fun and ‘jumpy’.
